Working together on “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” made Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk fast friends but as they got to know each other on set, they soon discovered that they both had aspirations that went beyond just acting in front of the camera.
Finn was a huge fan of horror films and slasher movies in particular but he and Billy bonded over their shared love for comedies and more specifically teen comedies.
Because they were also surrounded by younger actors on set, Finn and Billy soon realized that filming felt almost like summer camp and that gave them the inspiration they needed for a script they would pen together.
The idea was a young teen ensemble disguised as a slasher film.
The movie takes place at Camp Pineway where a group of counselors are getting ready to welcome a new group of kids the next day but the summertime adventure soon turns deadly when a masked killer starts knocking them off one by one….
