Sarah Michelle Gellar is staying busy with another major film role after joining the cast for the upcoming “Ready or Not” sequel, which also now has an official title…
The upcoming “Ready or Not” sequel starring Samara Weaving has added onto the cast with several new names including Sarah Michelle Gellar.
The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star joins the sequel, which also received an official title on Monday — “Ready or Not: Here I Come.”
The sequel follows the breakout surprise hit original where a new bride (Weaving) is terrified after she’s drawn into a deadly game of cat and mouse when she discovers that her husband’s family essentially made a deal with the devil to become wealthy but in exchange, they’re forced to play a modified version of a children’s game that ends with a sacrifice to appease this cursed deity.
The sequel is being directed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who are returning for “Ready or Not: Here I Come” with writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy penning the script just like the original.
In addition to Gellar joining the cast, the sequel also added “Yellowjackets” star Elijah Wood, “The Pitt” star Shawn Hatosy, Nestor Carbonell, Kevin Durand and filmmaker David Cronenberg.
While Weaving is the only returning cast member from the first film, Kathryn Newton was previously announced as joining the cast for the sequel.
Details about the plot for “Ready or Not: Here I Come” are being kept secret but filming for the project has already gotten underway in Toronto.
