Linda Cardellini is set for the lead role in the upcoming “Friday the 13th” prequel series “Crystal Lake” from A24 and Peacock…
Pamela Voorhees lives again!
Linda Cardellini — best known for her past roles in series such as “Dead to Me” as well as the Marvel series “Hawkeye” and films such as “Avengers: Endgame” — is set for the starring role in the upcoming “Friday the 13th” prequel series titled “Crystal Lake.”
The series is being developed by A24 for Peacock.
Cardellini is set to portray Pamela Voorhees in the series that takes place before her son Jason Voorhees becomes the hockey mask wearing, machete waving killing machine in the “Friday the 13th” film franchise. In the original “Friday the 13th” film from 1980, Pamela Voorhees was actually revealed as the killer cutting down camp counselors as revenge after her son Jason drowned in the lake when his pleas for help were ignored by the counselors during his stay at Camp Crystal Lake.
It was only in “Friday the 13th Part 2” when Jason actually returns from his watery grave and starts seeking out vengeance of his own.
Plot details around “Crystal Lake” have largely remained a mystery but Brad Caleb Kane, who is also developing Max’s original prequesl series “It: Welcome to Derry,” serves as the showrunner and writer for the series.
In addition to her role in the “Friday the 13th” prequel series “Crystal Lake,” Cardellini is also currently filming a lead role opposite Jason Bateman and David Harbour in the HBO dark-comedy series “DTF St. Louis.”
There’s no word yet on when “Crystal Lake” might get into production but now that Cardellini has been cast as Pamela Voorhees, the rest of the casting process begins.
